From time to time, we buy amps which are not in cosmetically great shape or need work of some kind. These are ideal for players who want a classic sound but perhaps do not have the financial resources to buy one of our excellent condition pieces. I think that for those with a little spare time and patience, these amps are superb value for money.
Vox AC15. This amp is an ultra rare
TV front Vox AC15 from 1959 in two tone tolex. If this amp was in good shape, our price
would be $2350 USD inc air. The speaker is missing but the amp is 100% original, works
fine and sounds great ! The bad news is that this amp has been hand painted in silver
paint and the rear lower back board is missing ! The guy who did this should be locked
away ! Black JMI control panel. The grill cloth is totally original and is pre the
familiar Vox diamond era. Price is a bargain $800 USD inc air to USA. Now sold but I will
leave the picture on this page for general reference.
Selmer Truvoice Stadium.20 watts.
Another beauty from around 1959. Just look at the lovely Goodmans Audiom speaker ! All
original but hand painted black. Original footswitch and brass vent grill. Grill cloth is
original. Fully working and cheap at $445 USD inc air. Sounds wonderful ! The back panels
have been removed for the photo but these are present and correct.
Marshall 4 x 12. This cabinet has the original 20 watt greenback
Celestions but unfortunately, the grill cloth has been removed and the tolex scraped from
the back board. This cab has the early metal handles and I suspect that originally, it
might have even had the pinstripe, rather than the basketweave grill cloth. One of the
speakers ( bottom left ) needs reconing, but the price of $560 USD is still fair for a
Marshall 4 x 12 of this age. I think that the correct grill cloths are available in
reissue form from Marshall.
