Selmer is a brand of vintage amp which seems to be
rapidly gaining popularity with collectors. A couple of years ago, prices were relatively
low but now they have climbed to substantial levels and seem to be continuing to do so.
These amps sound particularly warm and have a lovely creamy, vintage tone when pushed
hard. Recommended ! We usually have the Selmer Zodiac, Selmer Thunderbird, Selmer
Constellation, Selmer Treble 'n Bass amps in stock.
Zodiac and Thunderbird
The most desirable Selmers are probably
the Zodiac or Thunderbird twins. These are 2 x 12 30 and 50 watt combos with
imitation crocodile skin covering and a unique flashing green light set in the front which
pulsates along with the tremelo effect. They also feature a row of push buttons located on
the top of the amp which can be used to instantly change the tone produced. The amp shown
in the photo is actually in reasonable condition but needs a good clean ! The price is
$775 USD inc. air to USA.The same amps were also available with Celestion G12 alnico
speakers which are highly prized by collectors. Price for a nice Zodiac or Thunderbird
with alnicos would be $1100 USD inc air. Click on the photo to see the rear view of one of

Constellation
This is a really nice example of this quaint and
unusual twin speaker 20 watt combo. Priced at only $475 USD inc. air this would be a fine
addition to any collectors living room.
Treble ‘n Bass 50
50 watts of pure tube vintage sweet tone, packaged
in crocodile skin and smooth black tolex. In my opinion, these amps are one of the best
value antique amp buying opportunities around at the moment. This rear view shows the tube
compliment. The 
front styling is similar to the Zodiac
shown earlier. This is excellent condition and priced at $675 USD inc. air.
Bargain hunters might be interested in the
1970’s Selmers which we sometimes have in stock. These are fairly ugly looking but
all tube and priced at only $325 USD inc. air. Ideal for a college rock band starting out
on a budget perhaps.
